Symposium and conference «Transport Problems 2018»
On 25-26.06.2018, the VII Symposium of Young Researchers was held at the Faculty of Transport of the Silesian Technical University, and the X International Scientific Conference «Transport Problems 2018» was held on 27-29.06.2018 in Katowice and Wisła. These two events should be considered in a complex, as they add each other, and many scientists participate simultaneously in both events. This can also be evidenced by the fact that a joint collection of scientific works is published for these events. Past events gathered a record number of participants, and a record number of scientific papers was presented and published. They were presented by scientists from 20 countries, which makes it possible to assert that for our region this conference is one of the main for the scientists of the transport industry.

The plenary session of the conference was held at the Faculty of Transport. It was opened by the conference coordinator prof. Aleksander Sładkowski. The vice-rector of the Silesian Technical University prof. Bogusław Łazarz had short speech on behalf of the patron of the conference, the rector of the university, prof. Arkadiusz Mężyk. Then the second patron of the conference, the mayor of Katowice, Dr. Marcin Krupa, addressed the conference participants with a welcoming speech. The session was attended by leading scientists from Poland, Bulgaria, Lithuania, representatives of the regional road police and provincial road transport inspection. Further field meetings were held in the Wisła in 3 parallel sessions, which addressed the problems of all transport sectors.

Participants of the conference and symposium could also get acquainted with the production of parts and components of automotive equipment manufactured by Tenneco Automotive Polska (Rybnik), as well as with automotive equipment, which was collected in the Central Museum of Fire Service in Mysłowice. The participants of the conference could get acquainted with the history and culture of Poland and Slovakia during the visit to the Residence of the President of Poland in the Vistula, having examined the construction of the Adam Małysz ski jump in Malinka, visiting the Orava Castle in Slovakia or getting acquainted with the brewing industry, as well as logistics solutions for Brewery in Tychy.
