Cooperation with Qilu University of Technology Continues
Prof. Aleksander Sładkowski's next visit to China took place in late November – early December 2024. Previous mutual visits were described in earlier news for 2023 and 2024. The purpose of this visit was to expand cooperation between the Silesian University of Technology (STU) and the Qilu University of Technology (TUC). STU staff participate in regional programs in Shandong Province. For example, the following photo shows prof. Eugene Levin from the School of Applied Computing Sciences (Tennessee, USA) and prof. Aleksander Sładkowski, participants in such a project.

During the meeting, issues of expanding international cooperation with the involvement of additional SUT specialists and collaboration with other countries were discussed. Participation in the Chinese grant at the national level could also be a promising direction. Discussions on the issue of involving Chinese specialists in the work of the International Scientific Journal "Transport Problems" were also important. Another area of cooperation is the participation of Chinese scientists, doctoral students, and students in the next conference, planned for June of this year.

On December 3, 2024, the International Symposium on Aircraft Environmental Perception and Intelligent Control Technology was held in Jinan. Scientists from the United States, Australia, Poland and China took part in the symposium. Prof. A. Sładkowski made a presentation on "Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to Solve Some Civil Problems".

In addition to fruitful conferences and official meetings, there was an opportunity to get to know the traditions, history, and culture of China better. Chinese colleagues with great hospitality organized visits to museums, and historical and cultural sites. For example, not far from Jinan is the Qufu city, where the famous philosopher Confucius was born, lived, and buried. Although the distance between the cities is 150 kilometers, the travel time by rail is only 30 minutes. Thus, there was an opportunity not only to visit historical sites associated with the life of Confucius but also to get acquainted with the operating conditions of trains, which on this line developed a speed of 350 km/h.
