PLMO’2025 conference and Telman Aliev’s anniversary
During the academic mobility to Baku Eurasian University in May 2025, prof. Aleksander Sładkowski also had the opportunity to participate in the 4th International Conference on Logistics, Management and Operations in the East-West Transport Corridor (PLMO’2025). This conference, co-organized by the Silesian University of Technology, was dedicated this year to the 90th anniversary of the outstanding scientist, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, prof. Telman Aliev. The conference sessions were preceded by a ceremonial meeting of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences, during which the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Isa Habibbayli addressed the jubilee.

During the meeting, prof. A. Sładkowski read out a congratulatory address on behalf of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, prof. Marek Pawełczyk, and presented the jubilee with a commemorative plaque on behalf of the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering. In his speech, prof. A. Sładkowski noted the long-term and fruitful cooperation of the jubilee with Polish scientists and wished him continued active work for the benefit of our nations.

The above-mentioned conference has already become traditional, and its participants come from different countries. This year, in addition to Azerbaijani scientists, representatives of Bulgaria, Hungary, Georgia, and China participated in the conference. The Polish delegation was traditionally the largest among the foreign participants. At the plenary session, prof. Piotr Borowski spoke at the "Innovation Strategies in Energy Companies in the Context of Decarbonization of the Transport Sector" report. All Polish participants in the conference had the opportunity to present the results of their own research.

The conference consisted of two parts. The first part of the sessions took place in Baku. Then the organizers and guests moved to the city of Ganja, where the conference sessions took place at the Azerbaijan Technological University. Here, Prof. A. Sładkowski made a short report on the prospects for the development of international cooperation between Polish and Azerbaijani universities.

In addition to interesting reports at the conference or discussions behind the scenes, conference participants were able to get acquainted with the rich culture and history of Azerbaijan, visit beautiful natural places, or industrial production facilities. Among such places that were of great interest to foreign guests were the memorial complex and mausoleum of the great poet and philosopher Nizami Ganjavi, Lake Goygol, the Imamzade religious complex, the winery in Ganja, the bottle house of Ibrahim Jafarov, and other objects.
