Visit to the School of Computer Technologies and Management (eFrei)

In March 2025, prof. Ałeksander Sładkowski visited the School of Computer Technologies and Management (eFrei, École des technologies de l'informatique et du management), which is located in the Paris suburb of Villejuif. This is a modern French higher school (university). After merging with another Parisian university, it has another name - Efrei Paris Panthéon-Assas University. This university has a long history, which spans 88 years. Currently, over 5 thousand students are studying at eFrei. In addition to the two campuses in Villejuif, there is also a student campus in Bordeaux.

The visit of Prof. A. Sladkovsky to eFrei was organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ STT program. The program of the visit included and organized a number of events dedicated to studying the best practices of conducting academic classes and scientific research. For example, a certain novelty was the use of QR codes, which are generated for each class for the teaching staff and are read by students after the class, which regulates class attendance and also indicates the students' interest in a particular topic of the proposed classes.

The Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology has been cooperating with eFrei for over 10 years. There have been exchanges of teaching staff and students from partner universities. A very important aspect for possible expansion is that most of the eFrei research areas study the use of computer technologies for transport applications. The visit of prof. A. Sładkowski was timed to coincide with the International Day of this university (Efrei International Day and Partners' Day 2025).

These issues were discussed during round tables for foreign guests, during which the French side tried to present its own scientific achievements, as well as possible ways of cooperation. Foreign guests also had the opportunity to present the scientific and pedagogical activity of their universities.

In addition to French and Polish colleagues, the above-mentioned International Day was also attended by teachers and researchers from Malaysia, Estonia, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada, Sweden, China, India, Finland, South Africa, Great Britain, Czech Republic, Egypt and Hungary. The list below is compiled in the order of the lectures given by representatives of the countries to eFrei students.

The organizers of the International Day at eFrei tried to combine the official events at the university with a cultural program. Its main event was a visit to the Grand Palais Immersif. This exhibition hall adjoins the Opéra Bastille and, quite obviously, is located on the Place de la Bastille. For several months now, it has been hosting an exhibition of art by Miguel Chevalier called PIXELS with a large influx of visitors. This is a mixture of modern electronic music with the possibilities of computer graphics, color music, artificial intelligence and much more. Once at this exhibition, a person is immersed in virtual reality. The guests of eFrei were very impressed by what they saw.
