42 European Forum Visegrad 4+ Program EDA 2026

On July 1-2, 2026, the 42nd European Forum under the Visegrad 4+ Program EDA 2026 was held in Pilsen (Czech Republic). This traditional event was combined with the 16th European Scientific and Practical Conference on innovations in strategic development and planning, transport and civil engineering, intelligent European cities, EU funds. This event is held in various European cities. It involves scientists, university teachers, public figures, specialists involved in urban management, and other professionals. Since this event is of great importance for the EU, representatives of the diplomatic corps of various Central European countries will take part in it. Silesian University of Technology (SUT) is one of the co-organizers of this event.

The conference was opened by the President of the European Academy of Architecture, prof. Zdravko Rusev. Then the Head of the Political and Economic Section of the Polish Embassy, Jacek Gajewski, and the Counselor of the Hungarian Embassy, Karol Zoltan Nagy, addressed the conference participants with welcoming speeches. Petr Vanka, 1st Deputy Governor of the Pilsen Region, welcomed the conference participants on behalf of local authorities. Next, Ondřej Dostal, Member of the European Parliament, gave a very interesting report on the „Healthy Cities” project. No less interesting was the presentation by Tamás Dömotór, representative of the Hungarian Ministry of Transport and Public Works, on the topic “Changes in Hungarian urban regulation and support policy”.

Among the speakers, Poland was represented by dr. habil. Aleksander Sobota, prof. SUT, with a report “A change of the model for organizing the public transit services market of the Metropolitan Transport Authority in Katowice”, as well as prof. Aleksander Sładkowski, who presented the report “Analysis of the situation related to the dissemination of information in scientific journals”. The conference organizers celebrated Aleksander Sobota's speech by awarding him the honorary title of visiting professor of the European Academy of Architecture.

If we evaluate the event as a whole, we should recognize its relevance and the fact that this platform was very useful for the exchange of information between representatives of science and higher education, on the one hand, and practical figures in industry and public management, on the other.
