Polish-Ukrainian Joint Rectors' Day
On June 24, 2025, a meeting of the academic communities of Poland and Ukraine was held in the Senate Hall of the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), dedicated to scientific cooperation between our countries. The host of the event was the Rector of PW, prof. Krzysztof Zaremba. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Association of Rectors of Universities of Ukraine (ZRUU) and the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (KRASP).
The Polish-Ukrainian Joint Rectors' Day was part of the project "Polish-Ukrainian cooperation of representative institutions representing rectors for the improvement of university operations", implemented since 2018, coordinated by the WUT, and carried out at the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences of the WUT. The project was implemented at the request of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Poland (MNiSW).

The plenary session was addressed by the Rector of WUT, prof. dr habil. Krzysztof Zaremba; Vasyl Bodnar, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Poland; prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska, Chairwoman of KRASP, Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań; prof. Volodymyr Bugrov, Vice-Chairman of ZRUU, Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; dr habil. Krzysztof Bakuła, Director of the Department of Science, MNiSW; prof. dr habil. Jerzy Woźnicki, leader of the above-mentioned project, and others.

The event included a Rectors' Debate, during which the Common Position of both delegations was adopted. The deliberations focused on the systemic conditions for conducting scientific activities in Poland and Ukraine, the evaluation of scientific achievements, and the possibilities of increasing the participation of Polish and Ukrainian research teams in international projects, taking into account the role of science in the process of rebuilding Ukraine and supporting an innovative economy.

On behalf of the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology, prof. Marek Pawełczyk, our university was represented by prof. Aleksander Sładkowski, Rector's Plenipotentiary for Cooperation with the Countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. During his speech, prof. A. Sładkowski voiced 2 proposals for the Common Position of both delegations, which were entered into the final protocol.

In his summary, prof. J. Woźnicki said that the meeting was not only a space for dialogue, but also a concrete step towards strengthening the academic potential of Ukraine in the spirit of European solidarity.
