Transport Problems 2019

On 24-25.06.2019, at the Faculty of Transport of the Silesian University of Technology, the VIII Symposium of Young Scientists carrying out research related to the broad scientific discipline of Transport took place, and on 26-28.06.2019 in Katowice and Bochnia took place XI International Scientific Conference «Transport Problems 2019». This year's TP'2019 conference brought together a record number of participants, and a record number of scientific articles was presented and published by scientists from 23 countries, including several Asian, African and South American countries, what allows us to state that this conference is one of the main areas of intercontinental exchange and scientific discussion related to transport, which is so important for the economy.

The plenary session of the conference took place at the Faculty of Transport and was opened by the conference coordinator, prof. Aleksander Sładkowski. Next, the welcome speech to the participants of the conference was delivered by the Vice-Mayor of the City of Katowice Waldemar Bojarun because the conference takes place under the patronage of the Mayor of Katowice and the Rector of the Silesian University of Technology.

During the plenary session there were presentations of leading scientists from Bulgaria, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Poland, also representatives of the Traffic Police Department, as well as the Provincial Road Transport Inspection. Particular interest was aroused by the presentations of the Rector of the University of Economics in Katowice prof. Robert Tomanek, Director of the Institute of Machine Mechanics of the National Academy of Sciences, academician, prof. Tamaz Natriashvili and Director of the Institute of Control Systems of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, academician, prof. Telman Aliev. Further debates were held in Bochnia in 3 parallel sessions and concerned problems in all sectors of transport and its infrastructure.

Participants of the TP'2019 conference could also become familiar with the production of parts and components of car equipment offered by Tenneco Automotive Eastern Europe Ltd. in Gliwice, as well as learn about the culture and history of the Silesian region while visiting the Castle Museum in Pszczyna. Participants of the conference could also learn about the culture and history of the Lesser Poland region and Poland while visiting the castle in Wiśnicz, which was founded in the 14th century. In addition, participants could observe the means of transport and logistics solutions present in the factory of MAN company, which is one of the truck production leaders, and also see the Bochnia Salt Mine, whose beginnings as a mining plant date back to 1248.
