Cooperation with Kazakhstan. Continuation

The Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology began cooperation with a number of Kazakh universities back in 2011. Currently, on the initiative of the faculty, agreements on cooperation have been signed with the Kazakh Academy of Transport and Communications named after M. Tynyshpayev (KazATK), Central Asian University, Kazakh National Research Technical University named after K.I. Satpayev (KazNRTU), Kazakh Automobile and Road Institute named after L.B. Goncharov. All these higher educational institutions are located in Almaty. It should be noted that Kazakhstan is making great efforts to create a modern economy, and highly qualified personnel play the main role in this issue. To create the country's human resources, the government provides funding for doctoral students' internships in the EU. Every doctoral student must have a dissertation co-supervisor in one of the leading countries in the world. For example, prof. A. Sładkowski is a co-supervisor of 9 doctoral students. This cooperation is developing quite successfully. In 2014, PhD student of KazNRTU Yerlan Myrzakhmetov defended his thesis "Energy-saving equipment and technology for the transportation of viscous oils and petroleum products", in 2019 PhD student of KazNRTU Asem Utegenova thesis "Substantiation of a rational transport system of a quarry based on the energy criterion." Recently, in KazATK was defended dissertations by Zhomart Abdirassilov "Ensuring the competitiveness of container trains along the transit corridors of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and by Madina Izteleuova "Development of proposals for improving the transport and logistics system of Kazakhstan." The co-supervisor of all these works was prof. A. Sładkowski.

Cooperation with Kazakhstan is not limited to Almaty alone. Close scientific contacts link the Silesian University of Technology with Kazakh universities from Nursultan, Karaganda, and other cities. For example, researchers from the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov took part in the conference "Transport Problems", which is annually organized in Southern Poland by the Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering. The team of authors of the above university under the guidance of prof. Zh.S. Raimbekov took part in writing the monograph “Transport systems and delivery of cargo on East-West routes”, which was published by Springer publishing house, edited by prof. A. Sładkowski. It should be noted here that this is not the first experience of such cooperation with Kazakh scientists. For about 10 years, a number of joint articles were published in leading journals, sections of a monograph were written, joint presentations were made at several international scientific conferences.

Another example of mutual cooperation was the participation of prof. A. Sładkowski in the International Scientific and Practical Internet Conference "Modern Trends and Prospects for the Development of National Economies in the Context of the Challenges of the World Pandemic." This conference was organized by Kazakh scientists and took place on September 22, 2020. 79 researchers, teachers, and industry representatives from Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, and Poland took part in its work. During this conference prof. A. Sładkowski made a presentation on the topic "Dissemination of research in the field of transport and logistics."

The conference described above was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of prof. Zh.S. Raimbekov, during which a film was shown dedicated to his life and scientific work
