Meetings and discussions in Tashkent
Returning from a business trip to China, prof. A. Sładkowski planned a visit to the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent. This visit was due to the need to meet with students and the management of the Tashkent State Transport University (TSTU). This year, it was planned that first- and second-level students from this university would come to the Silesian University of Technology (SUT) starting from October 1 in accordance with the double diploma agreement, which was signed by the management of these partner universities. Unfortunately, the current political situation is difficult, as a result of which the requirements for the implementation of such academic exchange have been significantly tightened by the Polish side. Despite the fact that the Uzbek students successfully completed an intensive two-month Polish language course, which was organized by SUT online, the Polish Embassy in Tashkent recognized that these students' knowledge of the language was insufficient and refused to issue entry visas.
In connection with the above, the management of TSTU organized a meeting of prof. A. Sładkowski with these students, which took place in the assembly hall of this university. The meeting was attended by the vice-rectors: on academic work prof. Abdulaziz Gulamov and on international cooperation prof. Bakhodir Turaev from TSTU.

In his speech, prof. A. Sładkowski described and explained the current situation. One of the proposals of SUT to solve the problem is for students in Uzbekistan to obtain a certificate of language proficiency (English or Polish) at level B2. This is a mandatory requirement that was put forward by the Consular Section of the Embassy of Poland. If this requirement is met by students, there is a possibility of admission to study in Poland starting from the 4th semester for students of the first level of study. The same applies to students of the second level of study, with the only difference being that this can be implemented at a later time.
Discussion of prof. A. Sładkowski with TSTU students
During the meeting, students asked numerous questions regarding their studies at SUT, living conditions in Poland, and the possibility of resolving the current situation. All questions were answered comprehensively. In addition to this official meeting, prof. A. Sładkowski held bilateral meetings with representatives of TSTU and Navoi State Mining and Technological University (Shokirjon Sunnatulloev). The issues of academic and scientific cooperation between the universities and, above all, participation in the Erasmus programs for Uzbekistan were discussed.
